Know-It-All-Nation Discord Poll: Top 3 Indie Wrestlers

So a couple weeks back I joined the Dave knows Wrestling Discord (like and subscribe to Dave Knows Wrestling's Youtube), which now has been rebranded as Know-It-All-Nation. In this discord fans of youtuber, David Lee, and wrestling in general come together from all over the world (mainly the US and the UK) and talk about wrestling. So I asked the members of the discord who were the top three independent wrestlers of today. Three names popped up the most frequent Willie Mac, Sami Callihan, and Pentagon Jr.

Willie Mac

The one the came up the most was Willie Mac, I have to agree with him being on this list, the man is an amazing athlete, and has a ton of agility that I've never see in a big man before since Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow.  During his time floating around the indies, Willie Mac has been featured in various United Wrestling Network Promotions, Lucha Underground, was the NWA National Heavyweight Champion, until his loss to Colt Cabana in the 2019 Crockett Cup PPV, and has recently been wrestling on Impact Wrestling. The man has came a long way from his humble beginnings.

The second wrestler to pop up frequently is Sami Callihan. Callihan was best known for his tenure in Combat Zone Wrestling, until he destroyed Eddie Edwards' face in Impact Wrestling. That incident was considered the moment of the year in 2018 and Callihan was awarder wrestler of the year for that year by Impact Wrestling. Callihan is also wrestles in Lucha Underground under various names and is also the current trios champion along with teammates Daga and Kobra Moon. Now despite me wanting to pretty much stick to writing in kayfabe (mainly due to preventing spoilers and adding to the immersion and suspense of disbelief of pro wrestling), but I'm going to break it and commend Callihan on his dedication to kayfabe outside the ring, after the Eddie Edwards incidient.

Pentagon Jr.
Sami Callihan

Finally we come to Pentagon Jr., his name wasn't repeated as often as Willie Mack or Sami Callihan, but due to how many televised promotions he wrestles for, he has to be on the list. Pentagon Jr. wrestles for Major League Wrestling, Impact, All Elite Wrestling, AAA, CMLL, Lucha Underground, and many more, making his probably the most televised independent wrestler.

Throughout his career he has won over 20 titles and awards and his now at the age of 34, an age where wrestlers are at the start of their prime, and that means Pentagon Jr. has only just gotten started to show everyone the potential he's got.

There you have it, the top 3 indie wrestlers according to the Know It All Discord, I hope to make another one of these in the future.

Crockett Cup Results

First of all I want to apologize for how long this took. I had finals and was busy doing that, but now that finals are over I can go back to continuing this blog. Ok The Crockett Cup, I enjoyed it. It definitely one of the better PPV's I've seen, and as predicted my bracket fell apart.

Things started out with the battle royal, in which I expected Jocephus and Jay Bradley to win, but they were eliminated by the Boys who in turn where blindsided by Royce Isaacs and Thomas Latimer, who stayed outside the ring until the dust cleared, and won the wild card spot. Next Match was Flip Gordon and Bandido vs Guerrero Maya Jr. and Stuka Jr., this match was great lots of action and as I predicted Flip and Bandido pulled off the win, despite never teaming up before.

The next match was the team of Royce Isaacs and Thomas Latimer vs The War Kings (Crimson and Jax Dane), the team I predicted to win the entire thing. Sadly through heel tactics Isaacs and Latimer pulled off the win again (needless to say I was cheering for these two to lose the entire night). The third match of t he first round was against the Briscoes (Jay and Mark) and the Rock N' Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson). I have to say despite picking the Briscoes to win, I was cheering for the Rock N Roll Express and so was my DJ who wanted them to win the entire tournament. I have to say the Rock N Roll can still go in their early 60s, doing drop kicks, hurricanranas and performed the rocket launcher. Sadly this wasn't enough to beat the Briscoes and the Briscoes beat the Rock N Roll, this was the last time my brackett was right. Last match of the first round was Villain Enterprises ( Brody King and PCO) vs Kojima and Nagata, which resulted in a win for Brody King and PCO.

After the conclusion of the first round, Allysin Kay faced off against former NWA Women's Champion, Santana Garret for the vacant NWA Women's title (vacated due to champion Jazz dealing with medical and personal issues). Both competitors fought hard, but Allysin Kay was able to pull off the win, probably due to Garret's rustyness in the ring, after having a prolonged absence from wrestling after the death of her father. As usually how wrestling goes, she may have another shot at winning the title again. Unfortunately the match was overshadowed by a really bad speech from Madusa who was presenting the title  to the winner. She was reading a script on her phone, kept pausing, it was bad, and Madusa then went on a twitter war with Allysin Kay sometime after the event, so who know what's in-store next for Allysin Kay after she defends the title at War of the Worlds (that is if she's successful a6t her defense).

And now the second round of the tournament began. First match was Isaacs and Latimer vs Flip and Bandido. Both teams were new, and it was a test on who could work better as a team and Royce and Isaacs showed how well they can work an communicate as a team, while Flip and Bandido weren't quite there and I have to say was the biggest contributor to their loss. The next Match was the Briscoes vs Villain Enterprises and this was one of the most brutal matches I've ever seen. Things got chaotic and the ref lost control of the match, but luckily the ref gained control back and DQ'd the Briscoes for using a weapon (a chair) inside the ring. This lead the Briscoes to go on a a tangent and they then attacked King and PCO, injuring PCO and then the Briscoes stormed off after an angry tirade from Jay Briscoe.

The next match was for the NWA National Heavyweight Championship, a belt which goes back to the days of Georgia Championship Wrestling (the original WCW). Champion Willie Mack faced off against former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Colt Cabana, in one of the best matches I've seen in a while, and both are wrestlers I really like. However, I was rooting for Willie since I wanted him to meat his goal of defending the belt in all 50 States, but it wasn't mean to be and Cabana got the win. Hopefully despite this loss, Willie Mack will still be considered a contender for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, since I believe the man can defeat Nick Aldis.

And now we have the final match of the Crockett Cup Tournament. It's between the team of Isaacs and Latimer (who for some reason were being escorted by Madusa, maybe she saw potential in the team, I dunno) and a badly injured Brody King and PCO. The winner of this match would be the the NWA World Tag Team Champions. At first Isaacs and Latimer dominated furing the match, however King and PCO weren't done yet, King popped PCO's arm back in place, and Villian Enterprises made a comeback. They won the match and the titles.

Last Match of the night was for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and was between the champion Nick Aldis and his friend "TheVillian" Marty Scurl. Scurl showed his intelligence by faking that Aldis' valet, Camille interfered in the match, and she was told to leave the ringside. Then the two friends beat the hell out of each other, so much so that Aldis' eyebrow split open and was bleeding a lot, so much so that Aldis was getting a bit disoriented from the blood loss, Scurl also injured Aldis more by spraining or breaking his fingers. However Aldis still fought on and got the upper-hand in numerous occasions. Then at one point the ref gets knocked over and Camille shows up to interfere only to be stopped by Aldis, who doesn't  want to win by cheating (I have to say despite being a cocky son of a bitch, the man has class), Aldis and Scurl then continue to wrestle, both are tired and beaten to a pulp and Aldis manages to put Scurl in the Kingsland Cloverleaf (commonly known as the Texas Cloverfleaf) and wins the match by submission, and the two friends shake hands, with Aldis retaining the belt. A great ending to a great pay-per-view.
